“Oh No! A Root Canal?”
Has that ever been your first thought when you’ve been told that you need a root canal? Have you been told all the scary stories by a friend? TV and movies always make it out to be a big scary procedure.
FACT: Most root canal therapy procedures do not involve much pain at all. Prior to the start of treatment, the area is numbed with local anesthetic just like what happens if you were to have a filling done. Most people find it to be a boring and slightly longer filling appointment and have even fallen asleep during the procedure!
FACT: If you’ve waited too long and have a severe infection, it may be more difficult to numb the area.
